Torvean Golf Club was founded in 1962 as a 9 hole parkland course on the west
side of Inverness on a course run by
Inverness Council and then Highland Council up until 2002. The Course was extended in 1981 to 18 holes and has
been undergoing development
and improvement constantly. The club which sits on the road to Loch Ness and
it's
famous monster has a monster of its own, the par 5, 5th at 5784 yards to a small green just over a rise.
We are also close to the Caledonian Canal with Jacobite Cruises to Loch Ness leaving from beside the 2nd tee,
confirming our links to the substantial history of the area,
Culloden Battlefield, run by
The National Trust and of course
the history of The 'Young Pretender', Bonnie Prince Charlie and Fort George run by Historic Scotland.
From 1st June 2002 the Club signed a 20 year lease to manage and maintain the course on behalf of Highland
Council, shortly after
that a new Course Manager and Green Keeping Team were appointed. They maintain the
course to a very high standard and many competitors in our open competitions last year indicated that they
believe our greens to be amongst, if not the best in the North of Scotland
Looking across the pond to the 17th green
The Club built a new Clubhouse in the late 80's extending it in 1992 and we look
forward to welcoming you to the
club and course.
