  • bigpicSet on the outskirts of the city of Inverness, Torvean Golf Club is a joy to play. Overlooking the historic Caledonian Canal and River Ness, the course comprises approximately 400 acres of well-maintained mature parkland with geologically important Torvean Hill being the central feature. It is a registered SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). We are lucky to be able to share our course with some of the abundance of local wildlife with deer, red squirrel, hares and rabbits a common site, along with the odd otter! Swans, ducks and even red kites have set up home at Torvean.

Originally founded in 1962 as a 9 hole course, Torvean was extended to a full 18 holes in 1988. We take a great deal of pride in the way the course is presented. It is the aim of everyone associated with the club to provide the best golfing facilities in the north of Scotland. Ideally located about a mile from the centre of Inverness, the course is designed to be an ‘easy walking’ course but offering some significant challenges to test the most experienced golfer. The par 5 5 th hole ‘Toorie’ is one of the longest holes in Scotland which is a test for most. Requiring long and straight driving from the tee, once reached, the green is a subtle combination of undulations and gradients demanding the utmost respect!

Having been described as being ‘the friendliest club in the north of Scotland’, we welcome golfers from around the world. Originally a highland croft, our clubhouse provides a warm and friendly opportunity to relax after a game. The ‘Grade A’ listed building was extended in the 1970s and we provide a comprehensive menu along with full bar facilities .

The course offers something for everyone - men, women, seniors and juniors, from experienced players to those who have never picked up a golf club before. We also welcome corporate members and golf societies who wish to visit our wonderful course.
